Tender for 3G support system for Aero2 is awarded  January 04, 2010

Suntech, a Polish telecommunications software house, has won a tender and signed a contract to deliver an inventory system for Aero2, a mobile operator. Aero2 is the first company in Poland and one of the first in Europe to launch a 900 MHz band wireless telecommunications network based on HSPA+, the latest third-generation technology. The modern Aero2 network allows to increase the accessibility of fast broadband mobile Internet services.

On 30 December 2009 Suntech SA signed a contract to deliver, implement and integrate with the existing solutions the NetInventory system for the telecommunication network operated by Aero2. The order will be completed in 2010. The solution offered by Suntech SA was selected following a tender, which was attended by the leading Polish and foreign inventory system suppliers.
“The contract signed with Aero2 is doubly important to us. Firstly, it is one of the largest contracts concluded by Suntech S.A. recently. Secondly, this successful tender shows our competitiveness and demonstrates that we are currently offering the most flexible network management tool for mobile telephony operators in Poland”, says Piotr Saczuk, the Suntech President.
According to GSMA, Aero2 was the world’s first company to launch the HSPA+ services in the 900 MHz band. The system ensures the maximum downstream rate of 21.6 Mbit/s and the upstream rate of 5.76 Mbit/s.
“The tender criteria included the parameters, such as implementation flexibility and functionality, and - as far as our requirements are concerned - Suntech offered the best value for money. Competition between the bidders was fierce”, says Adam Kuriański, President of Aero2. “The tender committee selected the Suntech-proposed solution by a majority of votes”, Kuriański adds. “We hope that the solution will also support the network in the 2.5 GHz TDD band because recently we have won a tender for that frequency. We must admit that the Suntech system may also be utilised by other companies, such as Sferia or Mobyland, which are building the telecommunication network together with us.”
It is worth mentioning that, so to speak, Aero2 becomes a precursor of the ultra-modern telecommunications technologies, which means that very soon we might see very dynamic changes in the market.
“Following the recent successful implementations for fixed-network operators, e.g. ASTER, and relying on our years of experience in the implementation of the OSS systems for the largest Polish cellular operator, we could offer to Aero2 a solution that is fully functional and tailored to its requirements. We look forward to playing an active role in the pioneering implementation of the HSPA+ technology in the 900 MHz band and joining our client in the development of our product and meeting the emerging market requirements”, adds Leszek Grzybko, Commercial Director at Suntech.
The signed contract provides for the implementation of a system that allows inventory of physical and logical resources within the Aero2 network. The solution comprises tools which allow to automatically feed the system with data from external sources, such as databases, digital files and maps. The system offers abundant possibilities of generating statements and reporting data stored in the system repository.

Aero2 Sp. z o.o. is a new infrastructure-network telecommunications operator. In 2008 Aero2 won a tender organised by the President of UKE (the Office of Electronic Communications), obtaining reservation of the 900 MHz frequency. In the autumn of 2009 it used its newly acquired frequencies to launch a network of transmitters to send the HSPA+ signal that covers over 30% of the country’s total area. In November 2009 the UKE President reserved for Aero2 another frequency, i.e. 50 MHz in the TDD mode and in the 2.5 GHz band. Aero2 also holds 99% of shares in Mobyland, a new infrastructure-network GSM1800 operator. Aero2’s professionalism and achievements were recognised at the EU level. In 2008 the company qualified for PLN40 million of financing provided under the European funds for the purposes related to the construction of the HSPA+ telecommunications infrastructure. Aero2 holds an accredited quality certificate compliant with the requirements of PN-EN ISO 9001:2009, issued by PCC (Polish Certification Center).
